How to Choose the Right Jogging Stroller & Review of BOB Revolution Dullie Jogging Stroller

Jogging strollers are naturally designed for active parents who have young children, but some strollers are a better personal fit than others. Jogging strollers come in a variety of styles and models, each designed with different needs in mind and equipped with different accessories. Before parents decide on a particular one, they should consider their options.
Size and weight of the stroller are important aspects to consider. The lighter the weight, the easier it will be to carry and push the stroller. The best strollers combine light weight with sturdy construction and durability. The frame is usually constructed of aluminum alloy, as it is light and quite strong. Many strollers are made to be collapsible for easy storage and transport. Warranties can range from 5 years to lifetime, depending on the company.

Handle height can vary: 39″-43″ is common. For taller people, it is especially important to find an appropriate handle level, since running can be very uncomfortable with a handle that is too low. A few models boast adjustable handle heights.

Another consideration is the type of terrain that the stroller will be used on. Some jogging strollers are designed to be used on all terrain, while others are limited to pavement or short grass. Certain “sport utility strollers” have a swiveling front wheel to provide better maneuverability. Of course, if someone is planning on taking their stroller off-road, suspension is also very important. Some all-terrain strollers have adjustable coil springs with up to 3″ of travel; for the slightly less adventurous, others have a glide suspension with up to 2″ of travel.

Many companies also build dual seat strollers for twins or families with two small children. These usually cost a bit more than single seat strollers, but can be worth the price to keep kids from quibbling over who gets to go for a ride. Most jogging strollers have a maximum weight capacity of 65-80 lbs, though some double-seaters go as high as 100, so even large children can ride.

Sun canopies are standard on many models, some of which are retractable. UV/Bug and rain/wind shields are usually optional. Common safety features can include: center foot brake to lock the rear wheels, hand brake for parking, a wrist safety strap, and 5-point padded safety harness. Some models offer a two position recline feature for the seat.

Storage space is a big selling point for many parents. Some models have a handle bar console complete with beverage holders and small storage compartments. Others are equipped with cup holders on the sides of the stroller. Some strollers have large storage basket underneath the seat, and many have pockets on the seat backs. Zippered compartments for cell phones, wallets, keys, etc, are also available on certain models.

With so many different features available, it is crucial for parents to prioritize their needs ahead of time, before they go shopping for that perfect jogging stroller.

Review of BOB Revolution Dullie Jogging Stroller

With the recent soaring gas prices I decided that a great way to stay out of the car and get a little exercise would be to walk. I have a ring sling that I usually carry my youngest in but the first few times I tried walking while carrying him and pushing my 2 year old in the stroller was a nightmare. It isn’t so bad in the grocery store but once out and about facing hills and other obstacles I found my self tired and frustrated. So I made the decision to buy a double stroller.
Buying a stroller was not as easy as I anticipated. My initial plan was to visit a local baby store and pick out a stroller and go home. When I arrived at the store I discovered that there was very little to choose from when it came to double strollers. There were a few tandem strollers that felt difficult to steer, a few side by side umbrella strollers, and one jogging stroller. I test drove every double stroller in the place and decided that the jogging stroller was the one for me but the one at the store felt cheap, not to mention the fact that the display was actually broken, not a good sign. At least I had a direction to move in. I continued my search on-line targeting jogging strollers. After nearly two months of obsessing over finding the perfect stroller I finally made the decision to purchase the BOB Revolution Dullie. So far I am very satisfied but I feel that this stroller has some definite cons and could use some design improvement.

Pros

  • Very easy to steer
  •  Great over grass and roughterrain
  • Large Adjustable canopy’s
  •  Adequate head room for older child
  • Easy to Push with children of different sizes in each seat
  •  Fits Easily through standard doors
  • Practically no assembly
  • Ability to lock front wheel or let it swivel
  • Sturdy Construction
  • Quick 1 step break
  • Easy to Collapse.

Cons

  • Canopy’s seem warped slightly on the stroller that I purchased.
  • You must purchase important features separately, like the parent console because of lack of cup holder and carseat adapter that comes with two snack trays so that the kids will have a place to put their drinks and snacks. It seems to me that at the very least some sort of cup holder should be included for the price that you pay.
  • Not a lot of storage, this makes it a little difficult to shop with because a lack of a place to put things.
  • I noticed on the stroller a warning that indicates that if your child is reclined and the stroller were to tip over your child would hit the ground before the handle bar. This to me seems to be a HUGE design problem that needs to be addressed.

Overall I would say that pros outweigh the cons. The safety issue is a major concern of mine but my stroller has not tipped over so far and I feel that tip overs can be prevented if you NEVER leave your children unattended. The stroller is a bit heavy, which can be expected with a double stroller. It is also not ideal for mall trips or strolls through stores with small isles, but for walking in the neighborhood and park or even to the grocery store this stroller is great. The cost seems like a lot but if you purchase a stroller for half the cost and have to purchase a replacement you are spending the same amount. I use my stroller on a daily basis and spending more for a studier stroller seemed like the smarter thing to do.

Review of the New Bugaboo Bee Stroller

Have you been recnetly searching for the perfect infant baby stroller? Maybe you are expecting your first child soon and wondering which stroller would work best for you. Well let me am the first to tell you that you do not have to look any further. Apparently Bugaboo has come out with someone that all parents should love; it’s the new Bugaboo Bee stroller. It really is one of the simplest, lightweight strollers that you will probably find on the market today.
You are probably wondering what really makes this stroller so different and special from the rest. One feature that you are sure to love is the fact that you can collapse it by just pressing the button. It is also very lightweight, which will make it easy for parent to load and unload in and out of your vehicle. Another great feature is the size. You have probably seen all of the huge baby strollers for infants that are currently on the market. Many parents find it difficult to try and figure out how to get them in and out of their vehicles. Especially if you happen to have a small car. Not everyone can afford to purchase a huge luxury car or truck. This stroller will definitely fit into any compact car. If you would like to get glimpse of this new stroller you can visit the Bugaboo website at www.bugaboo.nl. According to the company this stroller should be out by the end of the summer, if not sooner.

There are however a few downsides to this stroller. If you are looking for something that would grow with your child than this stroller is definitely not it. By the looks of it you will only be able to use this stroller while your baby is an infant. This obviously means that you will have to end up purchasing a larger one later. So instead of buying just one you will need to purchase two. Then again if you put this item on your baby registry then you will still only be buying one. If you have not had the opportunity to take a look at this stroller, why not visit the website indicated above. Then you can post your comments in the comments section below this article. I am sure that after seeing it many will have additional opinions on this stroller. Unfortunately I was unable to find out how much this stroller will cost but based on the price of some of their other products it should not be that bad.
